Joe and Charlotte

Charlotte’s at the market / “don’t forget dish soap”

her husband’s off with some bimbo / he met on the ski slopes

meanwhile down in Texas / Joe’s a quarterback

Joe got a bad concussion / Sunday when he got sacked

lean to the left / lean to the right

stand up and sit down / fight, fight, fight

Joe is very popular / fans wanna stand by Joe

but he’s forgotten the playbook / and the Alamo

cold snowflakes are falling / into empty shopping carts

Charlotte forgot the dish soap / and her car won’t start

lean to the left / lean to the right

call freakin’ Triple A / fight, fight, fight

suddenly Charlotte realizes / she’s very very tired of snow

very very tired of snow

Charlotte gets a jump start / drives  to Austin, Texas

Joe is cruising down Guadalupe / he rear-ends her with his Lexus

yes, it’s love at first sight / they open a record store

the college kids all love the place / Joe buys a Labrador

Retriever

lean to the left / lean to the right

stand up and sit down / fight, fight, fight

lean to the left / lean to the right

stand up and sit down / fight, fight, fight

Rusty Armor

over stolen Safeway carts / weeping willows hanging low-rent style

she’s coming back from the clinic / the dragons of Anaheim smile

from the porch he throws a bottle / at her poor kitty cat

if I didn’t have to water the pot plants / I’d be doing something ’bout that

(chorus) roses are still red / violets are still blue

I’ve got rusty armor babe / what can I do?

the first time I ever met her / she asked me for a ride

she had to go bail him out of jail / way out in Riverside

he burns her with his cigarettes / and blackens both her eyes

she never presses charges / he’s a real lucky guy (repeat chorus)

we could head up to San Francisco / in my old hippie bus

with any kind of luck at all / he wouldn’t come after us

but here I sit by the window / a coward and a wimp

rolling up a homegrown reefer / ’bout the size of the Goodyear Blimp (repeat chorus)
