So many Broken Windows

we’re sitting around the barracks today / no heat, no pay, no parades today

we’re drinking a bottle of vodka today / no medals, no polish for the boots today

so many broken windows, it’s cold my friends

and Boris is back in the hospital again

we’re sitting around the barracks, no plans / reminiscing about Afghanistan

to an old cassette by Billy Joel / and the water is frozen in the toilet bowls

so many broken windows, it’s cold my friends

and Boris is back in the hospital again

we’re sitting around the barracks for now / and Ivan writes a letter to his sweetie in Moscow

and some Arab walks in and he’s ready to deal / vodka for bazookas, this cannot be real

so many broken windows, it’s cold my friends

and Boris is back in the hospital again

and this won’t be the way that it ends

featuring Brad Johnson, guitar and vocals / Jim Jarvis, mandolin / Jake Jacobson, snare drum

recorded by Tony Korologos in Salt Lake City, UT at Fast Forward Studios, back before the turn of the century
